Secretariat Services

Hosting the Secretariat/Focal Point of a partnership or multi-stakeholder platform.

This entails acting as its first point of contact and supporting its daily activities. This means coordinating meetings, communication, outreach, election processes, accountancy and finance.  It can also involve helping to define and create the strategy, action plan, governing structure and bylaws.

The Focal Point acts as a neutral broker, trusted advisor and trouble shooter, energizing, nurturing and accompanying the partnership and working groups to fulfil their mission and objectives.

Examples of previous programmes

Focal Point of the Private Sector Constituency of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership

RBM Partnership is the global framework to implement coordinated action against malaria.  The Partnership is comprised of more than 500 partners, including malaria endemic countries, their bilateral and multilateral development partners, the private sector, non-governmental and community-based organizations, foundations, and research and academic institutions.

TPI served as Focal Point for the Roll Back Malaria Private Sector Constituency. The Focal Point supported the constituency in creating its governance structure, conflict of interest policy and bylaws. It also organized bi-annual pre-board meetings and bi-weekly conference calls to discuss and align on key issues facing the partnership. Finally, it supported outreach efforts by developing materials and coordinating targeted campaigns.

Secretariat of the United Nation Global Compact’s UK Network

TPI served as the Secretariat of the United Nation Global Compact’s UK Network, liaising with the central UNGC team, organizing quarterly meetings with corporate members, and publishing reports related to the UNGC’s focus issue areas. The local network also provided support to organisations in filling out their annual Communication of Progress, a public disclosure to stakeholders (e.g., investors, consumers, civil society, governments, etc.) on progress made in implementing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, and in supporting broader UN development goals and conducted outreach efforts to expand membership.
