SDG Partnership Accelerator

The2030 Agenda Partnership Acceleratoris a major collaborative initiative between TPI and the United Nations led by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, along with UN Office of Partnerships, UN Global Compact, and UN Development Coordination office.  

The Accelerator aims to develop thepartnership enabling ecosystemthat can systematically engage businesses as a partner in sustainable development andaccelerate the number and effectiveness of partnerships to deliver the 2030 Agenda at the country level.

Partnership Platforms

The 2030 Agenda is built on a fundamental shift in approach to international development: engaging the unique roles and resources of all sectors of society and requiring extensive collaboration across sectors to achieve its ambitious goals.  

One essential mechanism for this is ‘platforms for partnership’ – multi-stakeholder hubs that catalyse partnerships by physically convening all sectors around particular development or business sustainability issues, facilitating an understanding of overlaps of interests and the creation of innovative ideas, and directly supporting the development of partnerships for the SDGs.

Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies

The mission of the Global Forum is to support its members to promote national-level multi-stakeholder engagement in their government’s planning, implementation and reporting of the SDGs.

TPI is managing the secretariat for the Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies with funding from GIZ and in collaboration with African Monitor.

MSP Campaign

The Partnering Initiative and UN DESA (through the 2030 Agenda Partnership Accelerator), Partnerships2030 (a project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the Global Forum on SDG Advisory Bodies are jointly running a campaign, over the course of 2023, aimed at raising awareness and supporting governments and stakeholders to develop the partnership enabling factors that will develop, improve and scale up multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of the SDGs and beyond.

Policy

TPI works extensively with the UN and multi-lateral system to promote the role of business and of multi-stakeholder partnerships in delivering sustainable development at outreach events around the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) and the UN General Assembly. Typical of multiple interventions,TPI co-curated UN DESA’s Partnership Exchangeat the 2018 HLPF and held anevent to build understanding on how to make partnerships workwith World Vision at HLPF 2019.
