On Tuesday, 4 February 2025, we held an online side event at the ECOSOC Partnership Forum 2025 entitled Unleashing the power of public-private philanthropy partnerships for transformational development. You can watch the recording below.
The side event explored the power of people-centric public private philanthropy partnerships (PPPPs) to deliver systemic change.
The event featured the Laudes Foundation-initiated Regenerative Production Landscape Collaborative (RPLC). RPLC has built transformational partnerships in Tanzania, Pakistan, Brazil, and India. These partnerships are transforming agricultural landscapes into sustainable ecosystems, enhancing production systems and environmental health, and connecting farmers to international value chains.
A panel, which included partners from these landscapes, reflected on how the combination of public, private, and people resources and levers is delivering transformation. The powerful catalytic role of philanthropy in making it happen was highlighted alongside the roles of partners from the other sectors.
Participants heard about and discussed the success factors and barriers for developing and implementing partnerships such as RPLC, and considered how to enable and drive multi-sectoral collaboration far more systematically. The enablers and barriers to collaboration, including between government and philanthropic organisations, were each considered, as was research on how to scale up multi-stakeholder collaboration far more ambitiously and systematically than at present.
This online event was co-organised by WINGS, UN DESA and The Partnering Initiative.
