Jenny Ekuland
Jenny is a sustainability and collaboration practitioner with two decades of experience in environmental programme management and partnership development, governance and capacity building gained in senior operational and board-level roles spanning the NGO, private and higher education sectors.
As TPI’s Director of Green Transition, Jenny leads a strategic programme to accelerate and strengthen partnerships for climate action. Since joining TPI in 2013 Jenny has supported a range of projects across sustainable business, climate and health, including facilitation of a partnership strategy for Cities Alliance, the UN hosted global partnership for urban poverty reduction and sustainable cities. For the past three years, she has acted as an assessor and advisor to P4G, a global platform for pioneering green partnerships hosted by the World Resources Institute.
Former Head of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oxford, Jenny set up the University’s new governance structure for sustainability and was a founding partner for Low Carbon Oxford, a city-wide sustainability partnership bringing together 40 private, public and voluntary sector organisations. She is co-founder of innovation for sustainability consultancy Oak Grove Associates, where she co-authored a multi-stakeholder plan to eliminate plastic waste in the soft drinks value chain, convened by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
Jenny began her career in the private sector as a Corporate Responsibility Advisor, where she worked on industry level ethical trading initiatives and first gained a taste for the challenges and opportunities of partnership working. Latterly, as Head of Environmental Engagement for Earthwatch, the international research and education institute, she oversaw partnerships with Diageo, Barclays, Reed Elsevier, UNESCO and Jaguar Land Rover, as well as capacity building programmes for young conservationists in Africa and Asia.
Jenny is a board member for Soha, a UK affordable housing charity, where she has supported ambitious plans to decarbonise 6,000 homes, and currently serves as Vice Chair of British Triathlon’s Sustainability Commission. She is a former trustee and Chair of Student Hubs, a non-profit engaging students in social and environmental action during their time at University.
Jenny is Oxford based, a runner, has two energetic boys and an incurable book habit.
