Associate
Tim Bishop
Based out of Saigon, Vietnam, since early 2011, Tim runs his own consulting practice – www.coracleconsulting.net – offering a range of services to improve the quality of cross-sector partnerships and collaborations that address social and environmental challenges, with a focus on the role of the private sector in poverty alleviation and gender equality.
The lion’s share of his experience in international development took place between 2006-2019 whilst working for CARE International. Tim joined CARE International UK in London in September 2006 to set up their Private Sector Engagement team, a cross-functional unit which went on to establish a range of global private sector partnerships and sustainable development initiatives for CARE. From Vietnam, he then led several internal initiatives aimed at improving CARE’s cross-sector partnership work and enhance the confederation’s overall programme quality and connectivity.
From the end of 2017 he then led a unit inside of CARE USA’s Innovation Services department, driving their global work to develop more systematic ways of delivering poverty and social injustice interventions by focusing on design systems, new operating models, and turning learning from across the CARE network into best practice. Examples include: working with CARE Philippines to design new humanitarian relief programmes with local communities; with CARE Egypt on social accountability; and with CARE West Bank Gaza on women’s economic empowerment.
Prior to joining CARE, Tim spent 10 years in London, working in public, private and non-profit sector roles, largely specialising in corporate communications, CSR, fundraising and marketing functions.
Tim is passionate about getting the best out of people, loves travelling to new places, and running at dawn. He’s been a TPI Associate since early 2020.
