A new IBLF report: Leadership in a Rapidly Changing World – How Indian Business Leaders are Reframing Success, based on a collection of 20 in-depth face-to-face interviews with Indian business leaders, who are Chairs, CEOs or senior executives of major Indian businesses, recommends ways to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth in India by harnessing business resource and energy, and aligning it with the efforts of other sectors. One of the report’s key recommendations is to strengthen cross-sector collaboration between business, government and civil society as this offers a huge opportunity for a more rapid escalation of effort from all sectors. It acknowledges that this is still very challenging in India and that there is a major trust deficit. The report provides examples of collaboration with NGO’s from the India’s big business houses such as Tata, as well as emerging examples of collaboration, such companies pooling their efforts through trade associations in the auto industry where companies have agreed to collaborate to build training schools and adopt certain ITIs, (Industrial Training Institutes), amongst themselves. In addition, an emerging platform, the India Backbone Implementation Network , is being conceived and put in place by India’s Planning Commission, with mentoring from IBLF’s Partnering Initiative, to strengthen the framework of multi-stakeholder dialogue and sector-focused action.
