Better Together: Partnering to tackle NCDs – new guidebook & webinar recording

better-together-coverBetter Together: Unleashing the Power of the Private Sector to Tackle Non-Communicable Diseases

The scale of the non-communicable disease challenge the world faces is staggering. Tackling the NCD crisis will require a significant shift in the way we live and work. This can only be achieved through an ‘all-of-society’ approach, systematically combining the power and reach of all sectors.

The Partnering Initiative (TPI), the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and Bupa have worked together to co-create a new partnering guidebook designed particularly for non-profit organisations who wish to partner with companies against NCDs: Better together: Unleashing the power of the Private Sector to tackle Non-Communicable Diseases – A guidebook to collaboration between Non-Profit Organisations and the Private Sector.

The guidebook begins to set out how to bridge the divide between societal sectors, to engage with business and create effective partnerships to address the cause of NCDs.

The guidebook was launched at a webinar, in the margins of World Cancer Day 2017 on February 6th. The webinar, which discussed the opportunity, challenge and tips for successful collaboration, was moderated by TPI Director Darian Stibbe, with:

  • Jean-Etienne Brodier, Director of Capacity Building, UICC
  • Dr Fiona Adshead, Chief Wellbeing Officer, Bupa
  • Deborah Olwal-Modi, Executive Director, Kenya Cancer Association
  • Darren Back, Senior Director, Social Investments, Corporate Affairs, Pfizer

Executive Director, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias In Zambia, we would like to partner with organizations that work in this line and we envisage a positive partnership that will live a test of time in the Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementias fight for better lifestyles and quality medication to that effect. I hope to read between lines of the Guide Book. Hope to connect and network with the line organizations world over for the plight of elderly people living with this condition.
