Lead Public-Private-Philanthropy Collaboration

A well as leading The Partnering Initiative’s work on Public-Private-Philanthropy Collaboration, Max von Abendroth is Chair of the Philanthropy in PPPs Forum at the World Association of PPP Units and professionals (WAPPP), and Senior Advisor for Europe & Germany at the Media Development Investment Fund. His various roles together involve building ecosystems for change at the intersection of democracy, climate change and social justice across the public sector, the private sector and civil society.

Max is the former Executive Director of Dafne, the European umbrella organisation of philanthropy, (2017 – 2022) representing 10,000 public benefit foundations across Europe. In this role he initiated the Philanthropy Coalition for Climate in Europe as well as the global Philanthropy for Climate Movement now hosted by WINGS.

Max has a Masters in economics and business Administration from Universität Witten/Herdecke. He lives in Brussels with his family.
