Amanda spent 13 years in advertising and marketing in the UK at McCann-Erickson, Lintas, Sainsbury’s and Young & Rubicam, before moving to the non-profit sector for ten years with Business in the Community (BITC). As a Campaign Director at BITC, she spearheaded the development in the UK of employee community engagement and led campaigns in education and corporate community investment before moving to Diageo in 2000 as Head of Community Investment, UK and Europe.
At Diageo, Amanda was responsible for helping the its businesses across Europe develop community involvement strategies and partnerships with NGOs and the public sector. She also led on developing global community involvement measurement and evaluation systems for the business and represented Diageo on several external committees and Boards, including acting as a Board Director for CSR Europe.
In 2002, Amanda joined the International Business Leaders Forum to head up ENGAGE, then IBLF’s joint international initiative with BITC to promote employee engagement in communities. On handing over the lead partner role for ENGAGE to BITC in 2005, Amanda has led a range of IBLF programmes across the organisation and within The Partnering Initiative including the Crossing Borders initiative, the Rio Tinto Prize for Sustainability and IBLF’s five-year partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation to promote CSR within eight countries in East and West Africa and in South and Central Asia. Amanda leads IBLF’s work on employee engagement with partners including The Clinton Global Initiative and IAVE and also leads on IBLF’s approaches to women’s empowerment.
Amanda’s key attributes are: the capacity to generate ideas and deliver results; experience and awareness of strategic and operational business issues, and expertise in cross sector partnering, social investment, stakeholder relations and employee community engagement strategy.
