ASSOCIATE ORGANISATIONS
The Partnering Initiative works with four Associate organisations:

As an initiative dedicated to promoting partnering approaches to sustainable development, it is central to our way of working that we develop programmes as partners. The Partnering Initiative started in May 2004 as a partnership with the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry. Over the past four years we have been delighted to establish similar partnerships with three other leading organisations. Our Associate Partners for the years 2007-9 are:

Environmental Partnership for Sustainable Development

The Environmental Partnership is a consortium of six foundations in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia that are focused on mobilising and empowering the people of the region to improve their environment, their local communities and societies. Since their establishment in 1991, the Environmental Partnership foundations have invested over USD 16 million in support of more than 5,000 individual projects and are currently the most significant private source of funding for community-based environmental initiatives in the region.
The Environmental Partnership

The Partnering Initiative is working with the Environmental Partnership for Sustainable Development Association (EPSD) to accelerate the move to sustainability in Europe through improving partnership action involving business, civil society and the public sector. The collaboration focuses on pooling experience and expertise on partnerships for sustainable development with the aim of increasing the scale and impact of business contributions to community-based sustainable development across Europe and beyond.

EPSD is currently working with The Partnering Initiative / IBLF on a cross sector partnering activities to combat climate change programme, as well as The Partnership Forum

Overseas Development Institute

The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is Britain's leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. Their mission is to inspire and inform policy and practice which lead to the reduction of poverty, the alleviation of suffering and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in developing countries. They do this by locking together high quality applied research, practical policy advice, and policy-focused dissemination and debate. They work with partners in the public and private sectors, in both developing and developed countries.
The Overseas Development Institute

In 2004 Director Ros Tennyson, of The Partnering Initiative, co-founded and designed the professional Partnership Brokers Accreditation Scheme (PBAS) with Michael Warner, a Programme Director at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). The course has been jointly developed and delivered by ODI and ourselves through 16 cohorts worldwide with both organisations continuing to offer the scheme strategic direction.

The Partnership Brokers Accreditation Scheme is a joint venture with The Partnering Initiative / IBLF

United Nations System Staff College

The College works at an inter-agency level to serve multiple organisations without duplicating learning and training activities of other UN agencies. The UN System Staff College provides learning and training activities which help UN organisations and UN staff to:
  • Develop skills and competencies necessary for their work at the inter-agency level;
  • Provide strategic leadership and management development at the institutional level;
  • Promote positive change in the UN system within the context of ongoing UN reform;
  • Enhance expertise in the area of learning, training and staff development.

UNSSC

The Partnering Initiative has built an important working relationship with the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) over many years. Specifically, since July 2005 the Partners in Action project has delivered 15 partnering skills training courses around the world for over 350 UN personnel and partner organisations. Together we have developed a robust model of skills training that can be adapted to HQ and operational levels and delivered within or across UN organisations.

Partners in Action is a joint venture with The Partnering Initiative / IBLF

University of Cambridge Programme for Industry

The University of Cambridge Programme for Industry (CPI) works with senior leaders to help them understand and respond effectively to the most significant social and environmental challenges that face their organisations now and in the future.
The University of Cambridge Programme for Industry

The Postgraduate Certificate in Cross-sector Partnership (PCCP) was launched in March 2002 as a joint initiative between IBLF and the CPI. The course continues to be run jointly in its sixth year, including tutorial guidance from members of staff from both institutions. In 2004 the CPI was involved in the establishment of The Partnering Initiative and has since continued to support its work as an Associate Partner.

The Partnering Initiative / IBLF was a co-founder of the Postgraduate Certificate in Cross-sector Partnership
and is currently an Associate Partner. Other work includes: evaluation, case studies and the environment.
